Experts
DetNet can only be used by approved experts nominated by a subscribing company. Experts may be company employees or consultants acting on behalf of the company.
Becoming a DetNet expert
All experts must complete the nomination process before receiving access to the platform. The DetNet Manager reviews nominations against the eligibility criteria and confirms whether access can be granted.
Eligibility criteria
Experts should possess relevant scientific qualifications and experience in areas such as toxicology, chemistry, biology, pharmacy or related disciplines, together with practical knowledge of classification and labelling requirements.
Candidates who do not meet the standard criteria may be assessed on a case-by-case basis, based on relevant experience and supporting information.
Training
Training is available online, including a recorded webinar and self-assessment material covering platform use, classification methodology and documentation requirements. Experts are expected to complete the training within the required timeframe and use it as refresher material when needed.
External experts
Independent experts are available to support companies that do not have in-house expertise or that require additional scientific review. These services are contracted directly between the company and the expert.

- Evaluate 'Reference Formulations and supporting data
- Document classification decisions
- Maintain classification records
- Complete the required training
- Refer issues or gaps in guidance to the DetNet Manager
- Support discussions with authorities where required
What is DetNet?
Developed by Detergents Europe (formerly A.I.S.E.) and its network of National Associations, in dialogue with stakeholders, DetNet (Detergent Industry Network for CLP Classification) provides access to shared toxicological data, scientific expertise and a harmonized classification approach for the detergents and cleaning products sector in compliance with the CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
How does DetNet work?
DetNet combines scientific data, expert assessment and a documented process to support classification decisions.
It does not automatically generate classifications; it provides potentially relevant information that trained experts assess using the DetNet approach.
Join DetNet
DetNet membership is available to companies responsible for the classification and labelling of detergents and cleaning products placed on the European market. This includes manufacturers, importers and retailers that meet the relevant subscription criteria.
